Step Up To Quality
Ohio’s Step Up To Quality program is a state-wide initiative that focuses on quality in the early childhood environment. It is a three tiered quality rating and improvement system that recognizes and promotes early learning and development programs that exceed minimum health and safety licensing regulations. Little Village Preschool has been a voluntary participant in the Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) Program in Lucas County since opening in 2011, achieving a three star rating under the former rating system and maintaining a silver accreditation under the new rating system. As such, we uphold the ideals of the program which relate to curriculum, classroom management and arrangement, the referral process and ongoing professional development for all staff specific to the age group served. Our administrator completes 12 hours of professional development per year, lead staff completes 10 hours per year, and support staff completes 6 Per year. This professional development is in addition to maintaining Adult and Pediatric First Aid and CPR, Prevention of Communicable Diseases and Recognition and Prevention of Child Abuse. All staff submits to Federal, State and Sex Offender Registry background checks.
SUTQ also requires centers to engage in community and/or family events. The center holds many family oriented events throughout the year, some of which are “Meet The Teacher” night, Muffins with Moms, Donuts with Dads and even Goodies with Grandparents. We believe that a child’s success directly relates to family involvement and communication. We pride ourselves on the concept of continuous improvement, and frequently solicit feedback from staff and families to identify potential areas for improvement in our program.
